A By-Name List (BNL) is a comprehensive, real-time list of every unaccompanied young person in a community experiencing homelessness or housing instability under A Way Home Washington’s (AWHWA) definition.
Using the BNL, communities can better understand the scope of youth and young adult (YYA) homelessness and the system improvements needed to reduce homelessness. Most BNLs are created in local homeless management information systems (HMIS) to ensure compliance with Washington state data collection standards and privacy regulations.
